...you're in the middle of it
The research group of Prof. Sandra Ciesek is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral-Researcher to join our team as soon as possible for four years with the option for extension (salary according to TV-H E13, 100%). Our research aims to improve the understanding of host-pathogen interactions of clinically relevant RNA viruses to explore novel therapeutic strategies by combining cutting-edge molecular biology techniques with translational approaches. One main focus is the investigation of novel host factors for different RNA viruses from -omics data with a focus on immunological aspects. In vitro assessment of immune patterns, antibody responses, and antiviral and cellular responses upon RNA virus infection will also be analyzed. The work will be conducted at the Institute of Medical Virology, offering state-of-the-art research possibilities, including well-equipped labs in biosafety level 2 and 3 facilities. Our research is highly collaborative, so we expect the candidate to be committed to promoting knowledge management and be a strong team player.
Your Role:
- Conduct innovative research projects focusing on clinically relevant RNA viruses.
- Independently develop and perform cell culture infection experiments with biosafety 2 and 3 pathogens.
- Within specific projects, mentor and train undergraduate and PhD students and cooperate with technicians.
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations with virologists, medical doctors or biochemists.
- Present findings in scientific meetings and publish research in high-impact journals.
- The applicant will work closely with the lab and science management and receive technical support.
